Our tours were very great
Arrive in Nouadhibou and transfer to the hotel.
We will start our day with breakfast and then set out to see the city. We will visit the Camel Market, Central Market, Ship Graveyard (many abandoned ships in the port), Fish Market. At 12 pm, we check out of the hotel and have lunch. Thereafter, we will buy enough water and food to take with us on the Iron Ore Train Station between 2 - 3 pm… We get off the train in Choum where we will find commercial transport vehicle that will take us to Atar.
Note: The train experience will be great fun but bear in mind there is no room for comfort; the thought that you are riding one of the worst trains on earth is the purpose.
Arrive at the hotel in Atar and check in, wash of the dust from the train ride and meet in the restaurant for Lunch. Thereafter, we visit the market of Atar and other historic places.
Depart from Atar and arrive in Akjoujt for Lunch; take off after lunch to reach Nouakchott before end of light and transfer to the hotel. Nouakchott is the capital and largest city of Mauritania. It is one of the largest cities in the Sahara.
Nouakchott day tour will include a visit to the National Museum where we will be taught all about the culture and the history of the people of Mauritania, and then we go to the fishing port (Port de Pech), Saudi Mosque, the Market (Marche Capitale), Centre Culturel Français (the French Cultural Center), Artisanal (Art Center), Galerie Zeinat and more..
Since we have to cross the border today, we must have our breakfast much earlier and head to St. Louis, Senegal - the capital of French Colonial power in West Africa, famous for its colonial architecture.
St. Louis offers heaps of faded elegance, some great beaches, and easy access to two National Parks. Today, we start our tour by visiting the National Museum, then we continue to the Vox cinema, Cathedral, French Consulate, Water tower and the colonial administrative quarters. We will get to experience what it is like to be in a place that was once considered part of France and all those who lived there before were considered French citizens.
Depart St. Louis and arrive in Dakar, the political capital of Senegal, West Africa’s westernmost point and one of its most westernized capital cities. After checking into our rooms, we have lunch and take walking tour of the vicinity.
Morning tour of Dakar, we visit Place de L’independance, Palais Presidential (though we won’t be allowed in but we can take pictures outside), Musee Theodore Monod (Museum), Village des Arts, Grande Mosquee, Layen Mausoleum. In the afternoon, after lunch, we visit the beach area in the North of the peninsula (Plage de N’Gor); if too crowded, we will catch a boat and go to Ile de N’Gor.. We can use the beaches for relaxation and have dinner before returning to the hotel. The nightlife in Dakar is incredible, visiting few clubs for beer and dance will be amazing.
Depart Dakar by 7am and journey to Amdallai to undergo the border formalities and get to the ferry at Barra early so that we won’t have to spend long boring hours waiting for our turn to cross. We catch our ride across the river and continue to Banjul, check-in at the hotel and relax.
We start our day with breakfast and setout to begin our tour of the city, Banjul. We will visit St. Joseph’s Adult Education & Skills Centre, Albert Market, Old Town for colonial history and architecture, Arch 22 (a Massive 36m gateway built to celebrate military Coup). During the night, we will visit a few musical concerts to experience the true Gambian life.
Today, we part our separate ways and head back home or continue our vacation to other destinations.
